INFORMATION ABOUT OUR USE OF COOKIES
Our website uses cookies to distinguish you from other users of our website. This helps us provide you with a good experience when you browse our website and allows us to improve our site. A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that we store on your browser or the hard drive of your computer if you agree. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer’s hard drive.
We use the following cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies: These are cookies that are required for the operation of our website. They include, for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of our website, use a shopping cart, or make use of e-billing services.
- Analytical/performance cookies: They allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and see how visitors move around our website when they are using it. This helps us improve the way our website works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily.
- Functionality cookies: These are used to recognise you when you return to our website. This enables us to personalise our content for you, greet you by name, and remember your preferences (for example, your choice of language or region).
- Targeting cookies: These cookies record your visit to our website, the pages you have visited, and the links you have followed. We will use this information to make our website and the advertising displayed on it more relevant to your interests. We do not actively use these kinds of cookies but cannot guarantee that third parties will not have a way to gain access to this information, so we leave this in the policy.
The table below explains the cookies we use and why:
Cookie Title/Name | Purpose | More information |
Google Analytics | Indicates sections of the website that may not be working as well as areas that are popular so that we can tune the website to be useful to our visitors. | Google Analytics Cookies |
Microsoft 365 Bookings, Exchange, PowerAutomate, and other products | These tools allow you to log in to schedule a meeting with a specific team at MacMhuirich or send a contact form with authenticated business contact information. Microsoft also enables integration with some of our UK suppliers such as OpenCRM. | Microsoft Third Party Cookie Inventory |
WooCommerce & CookieYES | Cookies enable the eCommerce ability, both to securely record billing and shipping addresses, business or personal identity, and engage with Stripe, a payment service provider, to process payments. CookieYES is a cookie scanner compatible with our hosting platform that looks for and helps to make WooCommerce GDPR compliant. It also needs a cookie to remember your cookie selections. | CookieYES for WooCommerce GDPR |
Please note that third parties (including, for example, advertising networks and providers of external services like web traffic analysis services) may also use cookies over which we have no control, and we cannot accept any liability for the third party’s compliance with its legal obligations. These cookies are likely to be analytical/performance cookies or targeting cookies:
- Google Analytics
- WooCommerce
- CookieYES (GDPR banner plugin)
- Microsoft 365
- Xero
- OpenCRM
We do not use advertising cookies directly. If we do in the future add advertising cookies, we will add a link to the webpage where they can be de-activated here.
You can block cookies by activating the setting on your browser that allows you to refuse the setting of all or some cookies. However, if you use your browser settings to block all cookies (including essential cookies), you may not be able to access all or parts of our site.
Except for essential cookies, all cookies that we directly control and own will expire after 14 days. Please notify us at GDPR@macv.scot if you are aware of any cookies that are not expiring on your system within 14 days and that you believe we both own and are in control of.
